چکیده
Abstract Meteotsunamis are shallow-water waves that, despite often being small (~0.3 m), can cause damage, injuries, and fatalities due to relatively strong currents (>1 m s −1 ). Previous case studies, modeling, localized climatologies have indicated that dangerous meteotsunamis occur across northwest Europe. Using 71 tide gauges Europe between 2010 2017, a regional climatology was made understand the typical sizes, times, atmospheric systems generate meteotsunamis. A total of 349 (54.0 per year) were identified with 0.27–0.40-m median wave heights. The largest (~1 high) measured in France Republic Ireland. Most winter (43%–59%), fewest occurred either spring or summer (0%–15%). There weak diurnal signal, most meteotsunami identifications 1200 1859 UTC (30%) 0000 0659 (23%). Radar-derived precipitation used identify classify morphologies mesoscale precipitating weather occurring within 6 h each meteotsunami. quasi-linear (46%) open-cellular convection (33%), some nonlinear clusters (17%) few isolated cells (4%). This project aims to develop a loss model and related measures of community resilience for the Los Angeles lifeline study. It focuses on social and economic dimensions of resilience. In Year 7, the L.A. loss model is being refined by undertaking preliminary investigation of performance objectives (from the perspective of utilities), modeling impacts on hospitals, and integrating with related MC...
متن کاملHistorical Climatology in Europe – the State of the Art
This paper discusses the state of European research in historical climatology. This field of science and an overview of its development are described in detail. Special attention is given to the documentary evidence used for data sources, including its drawbacks and advantages. Further, methods and significant results of historical-climatological research, mainly achieved since 1990, are presen...
متن کاملInnovation performance across Europe
The innovation performance of Þrms is primarily determined by their own innovative activities and the interaction with their innovationrelated environment. This environment typically differs among countries. We assess empirically these differences on Þrms innovation performance. To that end we Þrst estimate the relationship between an aggregate innovation input measure and an aggregate innovat...
متن کاملAn exploratory analysis of hospital discharge summaries across Europe
Methods We used three independent but complementary methods to compare discharge summary templates supplied to patients and/or referring physicians following hospital discharge in European countries, triangulating data from different sources. First, we undertook a survey of key informants on guidelines and standards for hospital discharge summaries. Second, we analysed two questions on discharg...
